HELP! Godaddy holding my domain hostage, trying to charge me 75$!
Godaddy suspended me because of a $5 charge! That's utter crap. Aparrently my cc was loaded and since they couldnt charge ONE TIME they suspend everything. GAY!

Re: HELP! Godaddy holding my domain hostage, trying to charge me 75$!
This is unfortunately business as usual from GoDaddy. We've seen many cases of this. I had a friend accused of sending spam from a domain - he wasn't, and had his account locked until he payed the administrative fee. It isn't hard to get locked and while I haven't checked lately, last time I looked anyone could make an anonymous complaint against a web site and get it locked and hit with the GoDaddy fee for their 'investigation'.
Consumers are hung out to dry: To me these fees have always felt like extortion, but I haven't heard of anyone who has had help from the authorities in sort, and don't expect any help from ICANN either. Funny: You pay both taxes, but when it comes to the crunch neither will help. And since lawyers are expensive, your path of least resistance is to pay the $75 anyway, wait, then transfer to a more reputable domain registrar. You're not alone: we see many people come to NoDaddy in your position. Unfortunately once it happens there's not a lot you can do.
Check back here for replies from the NoDaddy regulars: they understand the company internals and may be able to suggest a way to get your domain back without paying the 'administrative fee'.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not a thief, I'm a honest person and in fact I'm just a student. My last year income was 3,000$. 75$ is two weeks of food.
I have written to godaddy's ceo but I doubt it will do much good. I still don't understand why my domain was suspended.
The word you used was right -- extortion. I have a small something to make them pay but I'll wait until all domains transfer are done.
The worst is: I had paid for 1year hosting less than 2 months ago. Another 52$ gone

One last little thing, sorry to double/triple post.
My domain registrant is a proxy, will I be allowed to set it to public before I transfer? Else I won't receive the confirmation e-mail.
Thank you.
Yes you should be able to disable the domains by proxy before doing the transfer.
